Everyone is looking out for #1 and what is best for them, and that is the way it should be. We’re all alone at the very end. Its all about what is best for YOU and making sure that as much time as possible is spent doing was it convenient for you and what maximizes your well-being. If something isn’t working out for you, it is natural to cast it aside, everything can and will be replaced.
Its all about egocentric-utilitarianism; the search for the greatest possible amount of happines for yourself. The pillars of satisfaction are (in order of greatest to least importance) are: independence, convience and egocentric charity.
Independence reigns over all because we’re all alone at the end. If indepence is not maintained then satisfaction cannot be obtained. Even if something is incredibly convient it isn’t more staifying than independence if its convienience is not greater than the amount of independence it naturally undermines.
Convienience can only be held above independence if the net total of satisfaction it yeilds is greater than the indepence it takes away.
Lastly is egocentric charity (doing good deeds because they make you feel better). This only yeilds satisfaction if the first two pillars are creating a positive net total of satisfaction in themselves. If this is the case, than the act of charity enhances the feeling of independence because it allows you to flaunt your indepence. It shows other people and yourself that you are so comfortable with yourself and have so much self-satisfaction that you excess to give away.
These are thoughts that hit me recently and I don’t know if they will hold true. They are probably (at the very least) simply just exagerations of the truth. However, right now it is a convienient thought pattern that makes people and their actions seem logical and practical. Most importantly it gives ME clarity, satisfaction, security and makes ME feel happy.
Everyone is going to hurt you, its just a matter of who you are willing to put up with and I think that’s beautiful.
